My initial curiosity about birth began when my sister gave birth to the oldest of my eight nephews. I watched doctors and nurses ignore her and not allow her to advocate for what she wanted during labor. In turn, she had a difficult birth but a wonderful baby; I wanted to provide a different experience for other women.
My goal as a doula is to help pregnant women understand the fear of birth and empower them to remember that “they know their bodies.” My favorite part of being a doula is teaching and empowering moms and their partners about the beauty of birth and helping them have a good birth experience.
